Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad will head Fiji’s delegation to the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet following a meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address various critical topics, including climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and oceans, among others. Fiji’s delegation will receive essential preparatory support from an interagency Technical Working Group led by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
