Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad will head Fiji’s delegation to the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet during its meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address various key themes, including climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation strategies, adaptation efforts, loss and damage, and issues related to oceans. A Technical Working Group, overseen by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will assist in preparing Fiji’s delegation for the event.
