The Fiji Police Force is calling on residents in flood-prone regions of the Western Division to swiftly relocate to higher ground due to ongoing heavy rainfall that has already caused flooding in certain areas. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging individuals to evacuate either to elevated areas or designated Evacuation Centres.

Driu assured the public that police teams are prepared and available at various Police Stations to aid in the relocation process. He cautioned against waiting until nightfall, as moving during darkness significantly increases risks for both residents and law enforcement personnel.

Highlighting the police’s fundamental duty to protect life and property, he confirmed that officers will remain on standby to provide necessary assistance. For those in need of help relocating, the Western Division Command and Coordination Center can be reached at 9905457.

This proactive approach by the Fiji Police Force demonstrates a strong commitment to community safety during challenging weather conditions. Residents are encouraged to take this advice seriously, as timely action can greatly reduce risk and ensure their safety.
