The Fiji Police Force rugby team is determined to defend their title in the prestigious Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year. During a recent visit to their training camp in Nadi, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew, along with other command group members, encouraged the team, emphasizing the importance of humility and spirited competition.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa, who also serves as Police Rugby president, conveyed that the players and officials are committed to giving their all for their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues team is feeling optimistic as they prepare to face off against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Waqa acknowledged the shared enthusiasm among both teams, recognizing that while the Fiji Police Force aims to secure the title, the RFMF is equally motivated to achieve victory. As the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th Anniversary, the focus is on excellence and honoring the legacy of past and present police officers through their performance on the field.
In addition to rugby, the annual tournament will kick off with boxing events starting next Tuesday, indicating a festive atmosphere filled with competitive spirit. Waqa encouraged police supporters to come and cheer on their teams, wishing the best to the RFMF as the tournament’s host.
This event not only showcases athletic prowess but also fosters a sense of community and collaboration among Fiji’s law enforcement and military forces, making it a cherished occasion for many.
Overall, as the tournament approaches, there is a sense of anticipation and excitement that both teams will bring their best to the field, embodying the true spirit of friendly competition.
