The Fiji Police Force has reported that officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department carried out two significant raids in the Malua range of Navosa, resulting in the confiscation of over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana.
Following tips about illegal marijuana cultivation, the police team ventured into the rugged terrain, where they spent the night in the highlands to execute their plans. The first farm yielded more than 1,800 plants, while the second contained over 900 plants, with heights ranging from 10 centimeters to an impressive 2.5 meters.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of these seizures in disrupting the drug supply chain. He noted that numerous arrests have been made recently, with suspects charged and appearing in court. ACP Driu praised the community’s collaboration in sharing information that led to both the recent discoveries and earlier raids, highlighting the collective efforts to tackle drug-related crime.
This proactive approach by the police not only seeks to eliminate illicit drug activities but also fosters a stronger partnership with the community in keeping neighborhoods safe. The ongoing efforts to disrupt drug cultivation signal a positive step towards maintaining the well-being and safety of Fiji’s residents.
In summary, the police action in Navosa demonstrates a dedicated commitment to combating drug-related issues in Fiji, showcasing the importance of community cooperation in these successful operations.
