The Fiji Police Force rugby team has received significant support from Shop N Save supermarket as they gear up for the upcoming Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge. This marks the third consecutive year that the supermarket, a locally-owned business, has sponsored the Police Blues in their effort to defend the renowned bowl against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
George Brown, security consultant for Shop N Save Supermarket, presented the sponsorship and praised the police officers for their contributions to the community and national development.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime, Mesake Waqa, who serves as the police rugby president, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from Shop N Save, noting that the sponsorship would help maintain the team’s logistics. He highlighted the competitive nature of the event, acknowledging the military forces’ determination to reclaim the bowl following their recent loss of the Escott Shield.
Waqa emphasized that the police team is not underestimating their opponents and expects them to come well-prepared for the Sukuna Bowl. The exact amount of the sponsorship has not been disclosed.
