The Fiji Police Force rugby team has received significant support from Shop N Save supermarket as they gear up for the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge. This marks the third consecutive year that the supermarket, a locally owned business, has sponsored the Police Blues as they prepare to defend the coveted title against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
George Brown, a security consultant for Shop N Save Supermarket, presented the sponsorship and praised the police officers for their valuable contributions to the community and nation-building efforts.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime Mesake Waqa, who is also the president of the police rugby team, expressed gratitude towards Shop N Save for their ongoing support, noting that the sponsorship would help cover the team’s logistics. He emphasized the importance of the match, acknowledging that both teams are eager to showcase their skills on the field.
“We are not underestimating our opponents,” Waqa stated. He recognized that despite the military team losing the Escott Shield recently, they would be determined to seize the bowl. “I’m pretty sure that they are going to come out prepared for the Sukuna,” he added.
The specific amount of the sponsorship has not been disclosed.
