The Fiji Police Force rugby team received significant support from Shop N Save supermarket in preparation for their upcoming Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge. This marks the third consecutive year that the locally-owned supermarket has sponsored the Police Blues as they get ready to defend the esteemed bowl against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
George Brown, a security consultant for Shop N Save Supermarket, presented the sponsorship and recognized the police officers for their contributions to the community and nation-building efforts.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime and rugby president Mesake Waqa expressed gratitude for the sponsorship, noting that it will help with the team’s logistics. “We are not underestimating our opponents,” he said. “This is one of the events that both forces look forward to, and they showcase their best on the day.”
He acknowledged the military’s desire to reclaim the bowl after losing the Escott Shield over the weekend, stating, “I’m confident they will come out prepared for the Sukuna.” The amount of the sponsorship has not been disclosed.
