The Fiji Police Force rugby team is gearing up to fiercely defend the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year. This determination was underscored during a recent visit by Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and the command group to the team’s training camp in Nadi.
The Police Rugby president, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa, communicated that both players and officials are committed to pouring their all into retaining the title on behalf of their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team is showing high spirits as they prepare for the upcoming challenge against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on Saturday, November 9, at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Waqa described the Acting Commissioner’s message to the players, which emphasized the importance of humility. He reminded them that in any competition, every team is equally prepared and motivated to secure victory. While the Fiji Police are keen on defending their title, the RFMF is equally determined to seize a win.
As the Fiji Police Force marks its 150th Anniversary, the priority is to assemble the strongest rugby team possible, representing not just the force, but also their families, friends, and past and present officers.
“We understand the challenge ahead as the RFMF will also be striving hard for victory. We wish them well and are excited for the showdown on November 9,” Waqa stated. He encouraged all Police supporters to come out and back their teams across various sports, extending best wishes to the RFMF for hosting this year’s tournament.
The annual event will kick off on the following Tuesday with boxing competitions, setting the stage for an action-packed series of contests.
This year’s tournament not only celebrates sporting excellence but also highlights the dedication and camaraderie within the Fiji Police Force. Encouraging community support can foster even greater motivation and unity within the teams.
