The Fiji Police Force rugby team is gearing up to vigorously defend their title in the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year. This determination was reinforced during a recent visit from the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, who, along with members of the command group, addressed the team at their training camp in Nadi.
Acknowledging the fierce competition they face, Police Rugby president, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa, expressed that players and officials are committed to giving their all to protect the title for their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team is particularly enthusiastic as they prepare for their match against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Waqa emphasized the importance of humility, reminding the team that while they aim to reclaim their title, the RFMF will also be fiercely competing for victory. As the Fiji Police Force marks its 150th Anniversary, the team’s commitment to excellence aims to honor past and present officers, as well as their families and friends.
He noted the challenges ahead, with recognition of the RFMF’s preparedness and determination. The Police team is hopeful for strong support from their community and remains optimistic about the upcoming contest. The annual tournament will kick off with boxing matches starting next Tuesday, setting the stage for an exciting series of competitions.
