The Fiji Police Force rugby team is gearing up for a fierce battle to defend their title in the upcoming Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl. During a recent visit to their training camp in Nadi, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and command group members expressed their support and motivation to the team.
According to the Fiji Police Force’s official Facebook page, the Police Rugby president, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa, emphasized that players and officials are committed to giving their all to retain the title for their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team is filled with enthusiasm as they prepare for the prestigious match on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, where they will face off against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).
Waqa highlighted the importance of humility, acknowledging that while the Police team is determined to defend their title, the RFMF will also be equally motivated to secure a win. As the Fiji Police Force marks its 150th Anniversary, the focus is on excellence, with aspirations to field the best team possible, honoring their families, friends, and past and present officers.
“We recognize the challenge ahead, and we wish the RFMF success as they aim for victory,” Waqa stated. He also invited all supporters to attend the games and show their encouragement for the Police teams while extending best wishes to the RFMF, the hosts of this year’s tournament.
The annual tournament will kick off next Tuesday, starting with boxing competitions, setting the stage for a showcase of athleticism and camaraderie in the sporting community.
In summary, the Fiji Police Force Rugby team is not only focused on winning but also on honoring their heritage and community, making this event a celebration of unity and sportsmanship. As preparations continue, the hope is for a thrilling competition that fosters respect and pride among all participants.
