The Fiji Police Force is calling on the public to come together to ensure a safe and secure atmosphere during the upcoming Fiji Primary Schools Tuckers Ice Cream Games at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, scheduled for Thursday and Friday, November 28-29.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that community policing officers are collaborating with school administrations to guarantee the safety and well-being of students from various schools participating in the event. He urged parents, guardians, and educators to prioritize children’s safety and guide them away from negative influences during this time.
“Open lines of communication are crucial. Children are impressionable and may easily be swayed by their peers, potentially leading to regrettable situations,” ACP Driu remarked. He encouraged parents to regularly check in with their children, connect with other parents, and establish a designated safe meeting spot in case of emergencies.
Driu reassured attendees that comprehensive security measures would be implemented throughout the event, including crowd management and traffic control to handle an expected influx of visitors to Suva after the games. He advised drivers to remain vigilant when traveling near the venue and within school zones.
Moreover, ACP Driu reminded parents to talk about the potential consequences of risky behaviors with their children, reinforcing the importance of making safe decisions. The Fiji Police Force extends its best wishes to all participants for a successful event.
This collaborative effort highlights the community’s commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment for young athletes, making the games a memorable and safe experience for all involved.
