The Fiji Police Force is advising vehicle owners to avoid leaving their cars unattended with the keys in the ignition. This warning comes from Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, following two incidents where vehicles were stolen when the keys were left inside.
ACP Driu emphasized that criminals are likely to exploit such situations, urging owners to be vigilant and secure their vehicles at all times. He noted that those intent on committing crimes show no consideration for others, including possibly putting the families of victims at risk if they are present in the car.
He added that upon receiving a theft report, police will set up checkpoints to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in further criminal activities.
