Fiji Police Inspector Embarks on Pivotal Mission to Australia

Inspector Mavis Fatiaki is departing for Canberra, Australia, to carry on the esteemed tradition of secondment duties with the Australian Federal Police as part of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) Programme.

IP Fatiaki, a graduate of the 2013 Cadet Program and the People’s Public Security University in Beijing, holds a Masters in International Policing with a focus on Public Security. She has previously served as the Station Officer for both Vunidawa and, more recently, Korovou Police Station.

Her selection was the result of a rigorous process, where she competed against law enforcement officers from across the region. This secondment is facilitated by the Solesolevaki Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Australian Federal Police and the Fiji Police Force, allowing IP Fatiaki to join a number of young police officers from Fiji in working with the PCLEC Delivery Capability Team (DCT). The DCT is focused on coordinating initiatives aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Pacific Police organizations.

Since its establishment in 2020, the DCT has been responsible for implementing capability initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities set by the PICP, following the core principles of “By the Pacific, for the Pacific,” which embody the values and mission of the PICP.

Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew expressed that IP Fatiaki’s selection is a testament to her outstanding achievements and leadership potential. He extended the organization’s best wishes for her six-month secondment, emphasizing her role in upholding the Fiji Police’s proud tradition of supporting fellow Pacific law enforcement agencies.
