The Fiji Police Force organized a ceremonial medal parade today to recognize the dedication and service of both current officers and retirees. A total of 206 officers received the prestigious Fiji Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (FPLSM), while 89 officers were awarded the Fiji Police Medal (FPM).
The awards were presented to officers from various divisions, including Southern, Eastern, Central, and Headquarters. During the ceremony, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the awardees. He emphasized that wearing these medals is a testament to their hard work and commitment, encouraging them to maintain their high standards of excellence.
Chew also took a moment to express gratitude for the support he has received during his tenure as Acting Commissioner and acknowledged the challenges faced by the force. He reminded the attendees of their collective resilience, stating, “We have had our ups and downs, but we managed to overcome any issues, together.”
Looking ahead, Chew mentioned that a new Commissioner of Police will assume office in three weeks and urged the officers to extend their support to him as well.
In addition, the Medal Presentation for the Western Division is scheduled for this Wednesday at the Girmit Centre, continuing the tradition of honoring police service within the community.
This event reflects the values of dedication and teamwork that are essential in law enforcement, and the continued commitment to public service is a hopeful sign for the community as it moves forward with new leadership.
