The Fiji Police Force held a ceremonial medal parade today to recognize the dedication and service of its officers, including those who have retired. A total of 206 officers were presented with the Fiji Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (FPLSM), while an additional 89 were honored with the Fiji Police Medal (FPM).
The officers being recognized were drawn from the Southern, Eastern, Central, and Headquarters Divisions. During the ceremony, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the awardees. He remarked, “You have earned your right to wear those medals with honour, and I ask that you continue with the momentum of excellent work.” Chew also reflected on the fortunate achievement of these officers, acknowledging that many of their peers were not able to reach such milestones in their careers.
In his address, Chew thanked his colleagues for their support during his tenure as Acting Commissioner. He emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “We have had our ups and downs, but we managed to overcome any issues, together.” Looking ahead, he encouraged the officers to extend their support to the incoming Commissioner of Police, who will assume office in three weeks.
The Fiji Police Force plans to hold a Medal Presentation for the Western Division this Wednesday at the Girmit Centre, signaling continued recognition of the diligent service provided by its members.
In a world that often highlights challenges and setbacks, this event is a reminder of the enduring commitment of law enforcement officers and their dedication to serving their communities. Celebrating such achievements fosters a sense of pride and can encourage others within the force to strive for excellence in their work.
