A significant milestone was marked as the Fiji Police Force celebrated its 150th anniversary on Friday at the Nasova Police ground in Suva. Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua officiated the event, reflecting on the journey from Nasova, Levuka to Suva over the past century and a half, honoring those who have served before.
The celebration included a parade featuring officers from both the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Corrections Service, showcasing their commitment to community service. Mr. Tikoduadua praised the dedication of the police force, noting their hard work and resilience in challenging circumstances, often without recognition.
He highlighted the importance of honoring both the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Corrections Service for their shared dedication to the safety and well-being of the nation. The origins of the Fiji Police Force date back to October 10, 1874, when the Royal Gazette published the appointment of its first officers, laying the foundation for the institution as it stands today.
