Fiji Police Force Faces a Major Transformation: What’s Next?

The Fiji Police Force is set to launch an initiative known as ‘The Police Reset’, which aims to enhance its operations and services. Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, emphasized the importance of this initiative for the police to effectively address contemporary crime challenges.

He remarked, “Crime does not stand still—it evolves, and we are seeing this more clearly than ever before. The sophisticated nature of issues, such as cybercrime, organized crime, and drug-related offenses, presents unprecedented complexity.”

Tikoduadua further explained that the Police Reset is intended to equip officers with the necessary skills, tools, and resources to confront these modern threats. “This initiative aims to foster a more agile and responsive police force, one that is accountable to the public and closely connected to the communities we serve,” he noted.

He acknowledged the significant demands placed on officers during this transformation but expressed confidence that this approach is the right path forward, especially given the increasing prevalence of sophisticated and complex crimes.
