The application period for the Commissioner of Police position in Fiji will close tomorrow, signifying an important transition for the Fiji Police Force as a new leader is poised to be appointed.
This appointment follows a year of interim leadership under Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew. Chew, who has been in the acting role for over a year since the suspension of former Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho, has chosen not to apply for the permanent position. Nonetheless, he remains hopeful about the future of the Fiji Police Force, believing that the new appointment will bring about positive changes and further strengthen the organization.
“The closing is tomorrow, that is the last day of the month of September. I leave it to the process and let it take its course and we will get to know who is the successful applicant,” Chew stated.
The final decision regarding the new Commissioner will be made by the Constitutional Offices Commission following a thorough evaluation of the applicants.
