Fiji Police Force Announces Major Overhaul to Tackle Modern Crime

The Fiji Police Force is set to implement an initiative known as ‘The Police Reset,’ aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and services of the Force. Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, emphasized the necessity of this Reset to empower the Fiji Police Force in its fight against contemporary crime.

Tikoduadua noted that crime continues to evolve, presenting new challenges, particularly with the rise of sophisticated cybercrime, organized crime, and illegal drug activities. He stated, “The challenges we face are more complex than at any point in our history.”

The reform initiative, according to Tikoduadua, focuses on equipping officers with essential skills, tools, and resources to address these modern threats. “It aims to create a more agile and responsive police force that is accountable to the public and closely connected to the communities we serve,” he explained.

As the transformation begins, Tikoduadua acknowledged that the demands on officers will increase but expressed confidence that this approach is necessary for effectively tackling rising crime.
