The Fiji Police Force has announced a strong 25-member squad for their football team as they prepare for the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl. This announcement follows the conclusion of the inter-district championship (IDC), where the Western Two team emerged victorious at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori last Saturday.
National player and Lautoka striker Sairusi Nalaubu scored the decisive goal in extra time, leading Western Two to a 1-0 victory over Police Mobile Forces (PMF). Team manager ASP Mohammed Riyaz stated that this triumph is dedicated to all the diligent police officers in the Western Division, which spans from Rakiraki to Sigatoka. The team last secured the title approximately five years ago.
“This is for our families and for the division commander too,” Riyaz remarked. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, noting, “The team camped for a week but they managed to balance work and training while serving our communities.” Seven players from the championship-winning squad have been selected for the Sukuna Bowl team.
“We will see when we face the men in green during the Sukuna Bowl. We will give them a tough challenge,” he added.
The Police Squad includes the following players: Akuila Mataisuva, Jovilisi Borisi, Joela Bainivanua, Taniela Baivatu, Madhvan Goundar, Iliesa Lino, Tevita Waranivalu, Isikeli Tamanisiga, Abishek Kumar, Sairusi Nalaubu, Sikeli Ratucava, Viliame Vakatalesau, Siddhant Kumar, Sumit Goundar, Vikrant Chandra, Simione Tamanisau, Sitiveni Rakai, Ilisoni Lolaivalu, Kalivati Nateru, Amitesh Goundar, Remueru Tekiata, Ilaisa Nayasi, Ratu Anare, Semi Matalau, and Joeli Ranitu.
