The Fiji Police Force is calling on the community to band together for a safe and smooth Fiji Primary Schools Tuckers Ice Cream Games, set to take place at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on November 28 and 29.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, highlighted that community policing officers are collaborating with school administrations to ensure the safety and security of participating schools. He emphasized the critical role that parents, guardians, and teachers play in prioritizing children’s safety, warning against potential negative influences.
“Communication is key. Talk to your children regularly as they are impressionable and might fall into harmful situations,” urged ACP Driu. He stressed the importance of establishing regular check-ins with children, connecting with their friends’ parents, and setting up safe meeting points for emergencies.
In support of these initiatives, Driu assured that comprehensive security measures would be enacted, including traffic control around the game venues and surrounding areas, with warnings issued to potential wrongdoers to stay away from the event.
He reiterated the need for drivers to exercise caution in school zones as the games unfold, while also encouraging parents to openly discuss the consequences of risky behavior with their children.
The Fiji Police Force wishes success to all participants and looks forward to a memorable event marked by safety and good sportsmanship.
Overall, this proactive approach by the Fiji Police Force and community leaders reflects a strong commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare during significant public events, fostering a sense of security and community spirit amongst attendees.
