Last night, a man from Navua was arrested by the Fiji Police Force after authorities discovered illicit drugs during a search of his residence. The operation was conducted in conjunction with the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), utilizing a search warrant to thoroughly investigate the suspect’s home.

K9 Herb, the trained canine skilled in drug detection, was deployed during the operation and pinpointed various areas where drugs were hidden. Police discovered a total of 171 dried plants believed to be marijuana, concealed in multiple locations including underneath a mattress, inside a bedroom wardrobe, and beneath the kitchen table. The suspect is currently in police custody as further investigations are carried out.

This incident reflects the diligent efforts of law enforcement in Fiji to address drug-related issues, aligning with recent initiatives targeting drug trafficking in the region. Similar operations have resulted in additional arrests, including individuals apprehended at Port Mua-i-Walu for drug offenses.
