Police operations continue to make progress in targeting the financial aspects of crime related to illegal drug activities. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that recent cash seizures, believed to be linked to illicit drug trafficking, are crucial in the ongoing effort to disrupt and dismantle these criminal networks.

In the previous week, several raids resulted in the confiscation of money and other assets tied to illegal operations. Driu highlighted that focusing on the financial underpinnings of drug trade can be instrumental in reducing the supply chain of these substances. Although Fiji’s scale of drug-related financial crime might be smaller compared to larger nations, he underscored the significance of each seizure. “Every dollar earned through illegal means must be eradicated to diminish its profitability,” he stated.

Driu further noted that the arrests and seizures reported last week reflect the Fiji Police Force’s steadfast dedication to combating the illicit drug trade, alongside the support of community members and stakeholders.

This continued focus on financial penalties and asset seizures sends a clear message that Fiji is committed to tackling drug-related crime effectively. Striking at the heart of these operations could lead to significant improvements in public safety and community health, fostering a safer environment for all citizens.

In summary, the Fiji Police Force is dedicated to fighting against drug-related crime through strategic raids and financial seizures, ultimately aiming to dismantle the network supplying illicit drugs in the region.
