The Fiji Police Force rugby team is determined to fiercely defend the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year. This commitment was reinforced during a recent visit by Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and members of the command group to the team’s camp in Nadi.
According to the Fiji Police Force’s official Facebook page, Police Rugby president, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa, emphasized that both players and officials are prepared to give their all in order to secure the title for their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team feels optimistic as they gear up for this significant challenge, scheduled for Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, where they will face off against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).
Waqa highlighted that the Acting Commissioner’s message to the team revolved around humility, reminding them that while they are eager to defend their title, the RFMF will similarly be striving for victory. As the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th Anniversary, the focus remains on excellence—aiming to showcase the best Fiji Police rugby team, representing their families and the legacy of past and present officers.
The team is well aware of the formidable task that lies ahead, acknowledging that the RFMF is equally committed to claiming a win. “We commend them and eagerly anticipate the competition on November 9,” Waqa stated. He also encouraged supporters of the Police Force to attend and back their teams in various sports, while wishing the RFMF success as the event’s hosts.
The tournament will kick off next Tuesday with boxing competitions, adding to the excitement of the sporting events ahead.
