Outsource Fiji has stepped up efforts to recast the nation as more than a low-cost call‑centre destination, taking a senior delegation to the Customer Contact Symposium at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley in Australia to pitch Fiji as a competitive outsourcing hub for Australia and New Zealand. Led by Executive Director Josefa Wivou, the delegation met industry leaders, contact centre operators, technology providers and business executives to promote Fiji’s capabilities in higher‑value business services.
The symposium provided a platform for Outsource Fiji to showcase a broader suite of services beyond traditional contact‑centre work, including customer experience design, digital services, back‑office operations, finance and human resources support. Delegates held a series of business‑to‑business meetings during the visit to explore longer‑term collaborations and to position Fiji-based providers as partners for integrated outsourcing solutions.
Wivou told contacts at the symposium that the country is increasingly recognised as an emerging hub for high‑value business services rather than merely a low‑cost option. “Fiji is no longer seen only as a low‑cost contact centre destination, but as an emerging hub delivering a wide range of high‑value business services,” she said, highlighting the nation’s “skilled English‑speaking workforce, strong cultural alignment with Australia and New Zealand, and a service culture built on empathy, warmth and reliability.”
Organisers said discussions at the Hunter Valley event went beyond promotion; Outsource Fiji used the meetings to better understand global industry trends and to demonstrate how Fiji can deliver value‑driven outsourcing solutions that meet rising demands for digital capability, customer experience optimisation and compliant back‑office functions. The delegation engaged with technology vendors and service buyers to map opportunities where Fiji’s labour pool and time‑zone advantages could align with ANZ business needs.
Outsource Fiji signalled it will continue collaborative work with government agencies and international partners to strengthen the sector and attract investment that can translate into sustainable employment. The agency views the push as a means to create skilled jobs for Fijians across a wider range of functions than traditional contact‑centre roles, while building links with regional buyers and service integrators.
This represents the latest development in a broader government and industry push to diversify Fiji’s economic base by growing services exports. By actively engaging at regional industry forums and pursuing business‑to‑business relationships, Outsource Fiji aims to accelerate the country’s move up the outsourcing value chain and cement its standing as a Pacific alternative for ANZ companies seeking culturally aligned, English‑fluent and cost‑competitive service partners.
