Fiji Pearls head coach Una Rokoura has revealed the western and central Fiji Pearls squads following the FinanceHub Super League main final between Suva Swifts IGA and Lautoka Stars last weekend.
The central squad includes players representing Tailevu Doves, Nasinu Tactix, and Suva Swifts, while the western squad is formed by athletes from Nadroga Stallions, Nadi Netball, and Lautoka Stars.
These extended squads will take part in selection camps organized in Lautoka and Suva during the off-season, in preparation for the final team selection.
In addition to the main Fiji Pearls team, two Fiji A squads—Fiji A West and Fiji A Central—will also be chosen, contributing to the high-performance program within their respective districts.
Coach Rokoura stated that the players were identified during the 2024 Netball season. He mentioned that “these players will undergo a training selection camp with their respective squad.”
“At the conclusion of these camps, we will announce the Fiji Pearls Squad, the Fiji A Central Squad, and the Fiji A Western Squad. The Pearls squad will consist of 17 players, while each of the Fiji A squads will include 15 players.”
Rokoura emphasized the significance of establishing two Fiji A squads to broaden the pool of players within the high-performance player pool, a critical area identified during the 2022-2023 World Netball Championships. This initiative aims to give talented players a fair chance to join the high-performance system and expand the talent pool available for selection.
