Fiji Pearls head coach Una Rokoura has revealed the western and central Fiji Pearls squads following the FinanceHub Super League main final, which took place last weekend between Suva Swifts IGA and Lautoka Stars.
The central squad features players from Tailevu Doves, Nasinu Tactix, and Suva Swifts, while the western squad includes players from Nadroga Stallions, Nadi Netball, and Lautoka Stars.
These extended squads will attend selection camps in Lautoka and Suva during the off-season, leading to the final team selection.
In addition to the main Fiji Pearls team, two squads labeled Fiji A West and Fiji A Central will also be chosen, contributing to the high-performance programs within their districts.
Coach Rokoura mentioned that the players have been identified throughout the 2024 Netball season and stated, “These players will undergo a training selection camp with their respective squad.”
“At the conclusion of these camps, we will announce the Fiji Pearls Squad, Fiji A Central Squad, and Fiji A Western Squad. The Pearls squad will consist of 17 players, while each Fiji A squad will include 15 players.”
Rokoura emphasized the significance of establishing two Fiji A squads to broaden the pool of players in the High-Performance Player Pool. This initiative addresses a crucial area identified during the 2022-2023 World Netball Championship Campaign, providing talented players a fair opportunity to engage in the HP system and creating a robust player pool for future selection.
