Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica announced that the Government is set to launch the 5G network soon. He emphasized that 5G provides numerous benefits that extend beyond just mobile internet, urging technology professionals to fully utilize this innovation to enhance their services. Mr. Kamikamica reiterated the Government’s commitment to connecting underserved communities, noting significant progress through novel technologies.
Earlier this year, the introduction of Starlink services in Fiji has enabled residents in remote and maritime regions—who previously struggled with reliable connectivity—to access the advantages of being online. Major telecommunications companies in Fiji have recognized this potential and formed partnerships with Starlink, with the hope that this initiative will bridge connectivity gaps for both personal and commercial purposes.
