Emergency operations centers will continue their activities in the Western Division of Fiji as the Fiji Meteorological Service forecasts ongoing rainfall throughout the weekend. Divisional Commissioner for the Western region, Apolosi Lewaqai, has urged the public to take necessary precautions due to the anticipated rain.

In response to recent flooding, the distribution of food rations has been successfully carried out for 61 families currently residing in evacuation centers in Nadi. These centers include Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office, which are providing shelter to those affected by the flooding earlier this week.

The evacuation sites have received support from various faith-based organizations, non-governmental agencies, local businesses, and the Ministry of Health, all contributing essential items such as cooked meals, bottled water, food rations, and hygiene kits to aid the evacuees.

For further assistance, individuals can reach out to:

– Commissioner Western’s Office: 6664946
– Commissioner Western’s Direct Line: 9937346
– Nearest Police Station: Please contact your local station for emergencies.

This community response highlights the resilience and solidarity among residents and organizations during challenging times. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the collective effort to support those affected fosters hope and optimism for a stronger recovery.
