Netball Fiji's AGM Sparks Hope for Future Reform

Fiji Netball AGM: A New Era of Collaboration and Growth Awaits

Netball Fiji convened for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Tanoa Plaza conference room in Suva, where representatives from 14 netball associations, including minor district groups, came together to address pivotal matters impacting the sport. The meeting provided a forum to discuss key topics such as high performance, development pathways, levies, coaching initiatives, and preparations for a proposed Special General Meeting (SGM) aimed at revising the organization’s constitution.

President RubyAnn Sorovaki highlighted the importance of including the voices of all member associations, expressing confidence in the constructive dialogues that emerged, particularly concerning the future of netball in Fiji. “An important part was information sharing, which we believe is crucial, and we all agreed that greater collaboration and communication is essential,” Sorovaki remarked.

During the AGM, various district representatives voiced concerns regarding levies and the present state of development programs. The performance of the Fiji Pearls was also a prominent topic, with stakeholders acknowledging the need for sustained efforts to improve team dynamics. “There’s a lot of work to be done in this area, but we recognize it won’t be resolved overnight,” Sorovaki commented.

Additionally, the approval of Netball Fiji’s audited financial report was a significant outcome of the meeting, showcasing the organization’s commitment to transparency and accountability. This approval reinforces the principles of good governance that were underscored by association leaders throughout the discussions.

The AGM symbolizes a proactive approach to tackling ongoing challenges, aiming to create a more inclusive and engaged netball community in Fiji. Stakeholders are optimistic that the outcomes of these discussions will lead to substantial reforms, ultimately enhancing the foundation and representation of the sport in the years to come. This forward-thinking attitude promotes hope for the future of netball in Fiji as it navigates through its challenges in pursuit of growth and excellence.
