Fiji National University Sets 2026 Target for Naiyaca Campus Completion

Work on the Fiji National University (FNU) Naiyaca Campus in Labasa, which has faced delays since construction began in 2018, is set to resume next year and is anticipated to be completed by 2026. The project aims to enhance educational opportunities in Fiji’s Northern Division.

FNU Vice Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba expressed the university’s commitment to overcoming the hurdles that have delayed the campus’s development. “We understand the significance of this project and the challenges it has faced,” she stated, emphasizing that the focus is now on creating a campus that serves the local community effectively.

The university announced a phased development strategy after a thorough project budget review. The initial phase will prioritize constructing vital facilities such as classrooms and administrative areas to make the campus operational as soon as possible, with further infrastructure developments planned for subsequent phases.
