Over 20,000 individuals attended the Fiji National University (FNU) Open Day, marking the highest participation in the event’s history. The event took place on October 3 and 4 across four campuses: Naduna, Namaka, Natabua, and Nasinu. The Nasinu campus alone attracted 10,000 visitors on the first day.

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba expressed her gratitude to those who helped make the event a success. She noted, “We had a wonderful turnout, with not just school students, but also families joining in, especially on the second day. It was great to see parents engaging with lecturers and students about future opportunities for their children.”

The Open Day aimed to provide a platform for students and their families to explore the various academic programs offered by the university. It also included participation from eight special schools and two kindergartens, highlighting the increasing interest in early exposure to higher education paths.

Nabobo-Baba commented, “Parents and students had the chance to gain firsthand insights into campus life and the various courses FNU offers. The strong turnout reflects the growing interest from schools and former students in advancing their education with us.”

For attendees like Jone Ravuikadavu and his three young daughters, the experience was invaluable. “Even though my children are still in primary school, this Open Day gave them early exposure to hands-on courses. They especially loved the live animal display at the College of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry booth,” Ravuikadavu shared.

With a diverse range of activities and booths, the FNU Open Day ensured that attendees of all ages gained a better understanding of their educational options.
