The Fiji National University (FNU) has emerged as the institution with the highest number of local students enrolled privately from 2020 to 2024. This information was disclosed to Parliament by Aseri Radrodro, the Minister for Education, in response to a request for data on privately enrolled students at FNU, the University of Fiji, and the University of the South Pacific.
During the period from 2020 to 2024, FNU had a total of 50,255 private students, with annual figures comprising 11,188 in 2020, 10,206 in 2021, 10,470 in 2022, 9,081 in 2023, and 9,310 in 2024.
In comparison, the University of the South Pacific reported a total of 40,406 private students over the same years, detailing 9,467 in 2020, 9,816 in 2021, 8,737 in 2022, 7,257 in 2023, and 8,129 in 2024.
Additionally, the University of Fiji had 9,518 private students during this period, with numbers reflecting 1,802 in 2020, 2,128 in 2021, 2,128 in 2022, 1,910 in 2023, and 1,550 in 2024.
