In an inspiring initiative to broaden educational opportunities for students in remote regions, the Fiji National University (FNU) outreach team recently wrapped up a successful application drive across the Kadavu and Lomaiviti Groups. This initiative aims to ensure that students in these areas have access to vital educational resources.

Koro High School teacher Semisi Caucau expressed appreciation for FNU’s determination to assist students in overcoming geographical barriers. He stated, “Your willingness to assist our students with their applications has made a profound impact, opening doors for them to pursue their aspirations confidently.” His remarks highlight the significant role FNU plays in shaping the futures of students in these communities.

The outreach campaign featured engaging sessions at several schools, such as Vunisea Secondary School, Richmond High School, and Levuka Public School. FNU representatives met with Year 12 and Year 13 students, offering valuable insights into various academic programs and offering guidance on the application process.

Vijayta Sharma, acting manager of outreach, noted the enthusiastic response from students, particularly at Vunisea, where they eagerly inquired about how FNU’s programs align with their career aspirations. “The excitement was palpable as Year 13 students interacted with our team,” she remarked, highlighting the students’ eagerness to explore their options for the upcoming academic year.

The outreach initiative not only provided students with essential academic information but also reinforced the relationship between FNU and the local communities, underscoring the university’s commitment to empowering students on their educational journeys. At Gau Secondary School, the team appreciated the dedication of Year 13 students who spent their Saturday completing application forms, further demonstrating their commitment to planning for their futures.

The campaign culminated at Levuka Public School, where the FNU team connected with students, answered their questions, and guided them through the final stages of the application process.

This outreach effort serves as a testament to the transformative impact of educational initiatives, reinforcing the belief that with support and resources, students from even the most remote areas can achieve their dreams.

In summary, the FNU outreach team’s dedicated efforts not only enhance educational access but also strengthen community ties, fostering a culture of empowerment and ambition among students. Such initiatives instill a sense of hope and possibility for the future in these young individuals.
