In a significant effort to improve educational accessibility, the Fiji National University (FNU) outreach team has successfully completed an application drive in the Kadavu and Lomaiviti Groups. This initiative aims to support students in remote areas who face geographical barriers to higher education.

Semisi Caucau, a teacher at Koro High School, expressed heartfelt appreciation for FNU’s dedication to aiding students in their application journey. He noted the profound impact their efforts have had, stating, “Your willingness to assist our students with their applications has made a profound impact, opening doors for them to pursue their aspirations confidently.” Caucau emphasized the university’s crucial role in prioritizing the students’ futures and expressed hope for continued collaborations.

The outreach campaign featured informative sessions at several schools, including Vunisea Secondary School, Richmond High School, and Levuka Public School. FNU representatives engaged with Year 12 and Year 13 students, offering insights into various academic programs and guiding them through the application process.

Vijayta Sharma, the acting manager of outreach, highlighted the enthusiasm from students, particularly at Vunisea, where they actively engaged in discussions about aligning FNU’s programs with their future career objectives. She remarked on the palpable excitement among Year 13 students who took the opportunity to explore their academic options for the upcoming semester.

At Gau Secondary School, the team appreciated the dedication of Year 13 students who spent their Saturday completing application forms with FNU staff, showcasing their commitment to mapping out their futures. The outreach concluded at Levuka Public School where the FNU team had the opportunity to connect with students, addressing their queries and helping them navigate the application process.

Overall, this initiative not only provides vital academic information but also strengthens the relationship between FNU and the communities it serves, reinforcing the university’s commitment to empowering students in their educational journeys.

This outreach highlights the importance of equitable access to education and underscores the community’s engagement in fostering a brighter future for youth in remote areas. As FNU continues to reach out and support these communities, there is hope for transformative changes in the landscape of education in Fiji.
