The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has reported that 312 individuals are currently seeking refuge in six evacuation centers. The Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) have been fully activated to provide support.

According to the NDRMO, the active evacuation centers include Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, Vou Dance Group Office, Nalele Village Community Hall, and Tavua District Primary School, sheltering a total of 73 households.

Efforts are underway to ensure that rations are supplied to those evacuated, with collaboration from non-governmental organizations based in Nadi to enhance the government’s response initiatives.

This situation underscores the strength and resilience of the community as they come together to assist one another in times of need. It is heartening to see the coordinated efforts among government agencies and local organizations to provide support and resources to those affected by the current circumstances.
