The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) will initiate Phase 2 of its reconciliation and restoration programme early next year, focusing on community outreach. This phase aims to engage with communities that were affected during previous coups and promote reconciliation.

RFMF Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it is crucial for rebuilding trust within the nation. “Phase 2 will reunite us with the communities. We plan to listen to their survival stories and foster institutional reconciliation,” he remarked.

This upcoming phase presents a significant opportunity for the RFMF to address past grievances, as Major-General Kalouniwai noted, and offers a chance for the institution to heal while sincerely seeking to apologize to the Fijian people.

In light of these efforts, there’s hope that these community-focused initiatives will pave the way for a more united and understanding Fiji, ultimately strengthening bonds between the military and the citizens it serves.

Summary: The RFMF’s Phase 2 reconciliation programme set for next year aims to engage with communities affected by past coups, focusing on restoring trust and fostering healing through dialogue and understanding.
