The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is set to extend its traditional apology to the families of eight soldiers who lost their lives during the military mutiny on November 2, 2000. This significant event aims to bring closure and healing to the affected families.

The bereaved families have gathered at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, where they are being honored with eight traditional mats known as ‘na i vivivi,’ each representing one of the fallen soldiers. This gesture is part of the RFMF’s ongoing Reconciliation and Restoration ceremony, which seeks to acknowledge the past and foster healing within the community.

This initiative showcases the military’s commitment to reconciliation and healing, reflecting a positive step toward addressing historical grievances and honoring those who served. It is a poignant reminder of the value of forgiveness and the importance of unity in moving forward together as a nation.

In summary, the RFMF is taking meaningful steps to reconcile with families affected by past tragedies, promoting a message of healing and togetherness.
