Fiji Medical Association Welcomes New Leadership Team

The Fiji Medical Association (FMA) has appointed Dr. Alipate Vakamocea as its new President. The election for the FMA Officer Bearers for the term 2024-2026 transpired during the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, September 14, at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa.

Dr. Ronald Kumar will serve as the new Vice President, while Dr. Miriama Tukana and Dr. Ahmed Shakeel Shariff have been elected as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. The former President, Dr. Basharat Munshi, along with Dr. William May, Dr. Sailosi Ratumaitavuki, Dr. Myrielle Allen, Dr. Pritisheel Kirti, and Dr. Sudiksha Singh, have joined the new executive council.

The FMA has expressed its congratulations to the newly elected office bearers and is optimistic about their leadership in promoting the interests of the medical community and enhancing healthcare quality in Fiji. The Association is committed to advocating for the welfare of medical professionals, strengthening the healthcare system, and improving public health outcomes nationwide. The newly elected team will serve a two-year term, continuing the legacy of excellence and service upheld by the Association for over sixty years.
