Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay recently celebrated World Mangrove Day by hosting a mangrove-planting event in collaboration with the Mamanuca Environment Society.
The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from 40 associates and guests, who collectively planted 1,000 mangroves. This initiative is part of the resort’s ambitious plan to plant a total of 3,000 mangroves by the end of 2024, reflecting its dedication to preserving and improving local ecosystems.
General Manager Silvano Dressino emphasized that sustainability is fundamental to the resort’s operations. He stated, “World Mangrove Day provides a fantastic opportunity for our associates and guests to make a meaningful environmental impact. We are excited to see the positive effects of our efforts and to continue working towards our mangrove planting goals.”
Dressino noted that Ms. Mataika would be instrumental in advancing the resort’s environmental initiatives. He added, “Participating in sustainability efforts like mangrove planting allows our guests and staff to experience a ‘Momi Moment’ — a distinctive connection to the environment and local community beyond their stay.”
In honor of World Mangrove Day, the resort’s beverage team also created two special cocktails: the Mangrove Martini and Coastal Breeze, which incorporated fresh herbs from the resort’s garden. For each cocktail sold, the hotel contributed $12 to the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES) to support ongoing joint efforts toward ocean conservation in Fiji.
The Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay remains dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and encouraging community involvement through these meaningful initiatives.
