The Fiji Police MPaisa Task Force has arrested a 27-year-old man from Moto, Ba, on charges of obtaining financial advantage through deception and possession of property believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Investigations indicated that between July 2023 and September 2024, the suspect allegedly utilized several Facebook accounts to sell items, earning around $1,400, which was deposited into his bank account and several mobile money transfer accounts registered in his name.
The man faces six counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and one count of Possession of Property Suspected to be Proceeds of Crime. He is set to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
