The Fiji Police MPaisa Task Force has arrested a 27-year-old man from Moto, Ba, on charges of obtaining financial advantage through deception and allegedly possessing property believed to be derived from criminal activities.
Police investigations indicated that between July 2023 and September 2024, the suspect reportedly utilized various Facebook accounts to advertise items for sale. He is said to have received around $1,400, which was deposited into his bank account and several mobile money transfer accounts registered in his name.
He faces six counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and one count of Possession of Property Suspected of being Proceeds of Crime. The man is scheduled to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
