The Fiji Police MPaisa Task Force has charged a 27-year-old man from Moto, Ba, with obtaining financial advantage through deception and possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Investigations revealed that between July 2023 and September 2024, the suspect allegedly utilized several Facebook accounts to sell items, receiving around $1,400, which was deposited into his bank account and transferred via various mobile money accounts registered in his name.
The man faces six counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and one count of Possession of Property Suspected of being Proceeds of Crime. He is scheduled to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
