Fiji Lifts Movement Restrictions: What’s Next for Evacuees?

The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has announced that restrictions on movement in the Western Division have been lifted. In a recent update, NDRMO confirmed that there are currently eight active evacuation centers accommodating 79 households and a total of 350 evacuees in the region.

Additionally, the delivery of essential rations to the affected households within these centers was carried out today. The Ministry of Health is actively visiting all evacuation centers to offer medical support to those in need.

Support is being provided to evacuees in various forms, including:

– 100 bottles of water and four hygiene kits supplied by Freezco and Red Cross to four evacuation centers in Nadi.
– Food distribution by the Hare Rama Hare Krishna team at the Korovuto evacuation center.
– Psychosocial support offered by Empower Pacific at the evacuation centers in Nadi.

This collaborative effort signifies a robust response to the recent challenges faced by communities in the Western Division, highlighting the importance of unity and assistance in times of crisis.

Overall, the lifting of restrictions and the active support provided to evacuees demonstrate a hopeful outlook for recovery and rebuilding in the affected areas.
