The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has announced that movement restrictions in the Western Division have been lifted. In an update shared this evening, the NDRMO reported that there are currently eight active evacuation centers, accommodating 79 households and a total of 350 evacuees.

Today, food rations were delivered to the affected families residing in these centers. Medical teams from the Ministry of Health are actively visiting all evacuation centers to provide necessary medical support.

Generous contributions have been made to assist those staying in evacuation centers, which include:

– 100 bottles of water and four hygiene kits donated by Freezco and the Red Cross to four centers in Nadi.
– Food distributions organized by the Hare Rama Hare Krishna team in the Korovuto evacuation center.
– Psychosocial support provided by Empower Pacific at various centers in Nadi.

This positive development highlights the resilience and collaborative spirit of the community and support organizations in helping those in need during this difficult time.

In summary, with movement restrictions lifted and multiple organizations stepping up to provide essential supplies and support, the situation in the Western Division is showing signs of improvement. The community’s collective efforts exemplify the strength and solidarity of those affected as they navigate through challenges.
