The Attorney-General’s Office will lead the Fiji Human Rights Taskforce, tasked with coordinating, advising, and encouraging ongoing communication among State institutions to help Fiji meet its international human rights commitments. This development follows the Cabinet’s approval of the Taskforce.
The Fiji Human Rights Taskforce will ensure effective coordination of Fiji’s interactions with various international human rights mechanisms, including the United Nations Human Rights Treaty Bodies, the Universal Periodic Review, and the Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council. Additionally, it will monitor the implementation of their recommendations.
