A donation of $5,000 to launch the New Zealand-based Blue Light Program in Fiji has been presented by the Fiji-New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) to Blue Light New Zealand. The handover took place during a networking event organized by FNZBC in Suva last week.
New Zealand Police Pacific superintendent, Glyn Rowland, commented that Blue Light is a non-profit organization that collaborates with the New Zealand Police to provide services in areas that the police are unable to access directly. “They work with the youth and in our communities, doing fantastic work that truly makes a difference,” Mr. Rowland stated. He expressed his support for Blue Light’s initiatives in New Zealand and was pleased that the program is expanding into Fiji.
In Fiji, Blue Light collaborates with the Fiji Police Force to improve community services. Blue Light CEO Brendon Crompton, who attended the event to receive the donation, emphasized the Fijian police force’s commitment, pointing out that financial resources are necessary for running community-based programs. “I have been to Fiji numerous times, and I feel my organization has contributed its time to train alongside the Fiji Police,” he said. “The police force here is dedicated; they have the personnel but need financial support to implement programs in schools and communities.”
Mr. Crompton expressed his eagerness to begin implementing specific programs with the Fiji Police Force using the contribution received.
