Fiji Hosts Pivotal Youth Leadership Summit in Suva

Fiji’s Youth and Sports Ministry is leading the South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting, which commenced today in Suva. Meli Nacuva, the Permanent Secretary, is presiding over the event.

Nacuva warmly welcomed all attendees and expressed gratitude to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) for their support in organizing the meeting. He underscored the importance of the gathering in tackling the challenges faced by the region’s youth, highlighting the necessity for collaboration and cooperation to devise effective solutions.

During his address, Nacuva also noted Fiji’s remarkable cultural diversity and renowned hospitality. He encouraged participants to make the most of their stay in Fiji by engaging in meaningful discussions that could positively influence the youth across the region.

Mahoney Mori, the Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, characterized this Senior Official Meeting as historic, stating that youths are the guiding force of the Pacific. He expressed gratitude to the Fijian government for the warm traditional welcome they received.

In her vote of thanks, Melissa Bule, the Vice Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, also thanked the Fijian government for their traditional hospitality. She appreciated the support from senior officials across the Pacific that allowed for this significant convening. Bule wished all participants productive discussions and successful outcomes from the forum.

The South Pacific Youth Senior Official Government Meeting is attended by Permanent Secretaries and CEOs from the region, the PYC Chairperson, senior officials, government representatives, and youth representatives.
