Fiji’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has commenced the South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting in Suva today. Meli Nacuva, the Permanent Secretary, is chairing the event and welcomed all participants, expressing his appreciation for the support from the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in organizing the meeting.
Nacuva underscored the importance of the meeting in tackling the challenges faced by youth in the region, emphasizing the need for collaboration and cooperation to devise effective solutions. He also highlighted Fiji’s unique cultural diversity and its renowned hospitality, encouraging participants to take full advantage of their time in the country and engage in constructive discussions that could positively influence the youth across the region.
Mahoney Mori, Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, remarked on the historical nature of the Senior Officials Meeting, stating that youth are the guiding light of the Pacific. He thanked the Fijian government for the traditional welcoming ceremony.
During the vote of thanks, Pacific Youth Council Vice Chair Melissa Bule expressed her gratitude to the Fijian government for their warm reception and acknowledged the participation of senior officials from other Pacific nations in this gathering. Bule wished the attendees meaningful discussions and a successful outcome from the forum.
The South Pacific Youth Senior Official Government Meeting is set to include Permanent Secretaries, CEOs from various South Pacific nations, the PYC Chairperson, senior officials, government representatives, and youth representatives.
